MASTERS WIN OUT: Earlier this year we announced plans to drop the 126 Masters gearbox class at Rock Island. Some of our long-time supporters cried foul and so in the spirit of trying to accommodate as many racers as possible, we relented and gave them until June 1 to come up with 21 entries. Well they did it and even bettered it by one, with 22 currently registered in the class and we expect a few more before race day. We were happy to be able to provide this opportunity and happy they were able to step up and meet the challenge. As with all classes, they will need to continue to demonstrate support for the class in order for it to continue to be on the race schedule in the future.

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT: Currently, even with the early push to get Masters gearbox registrations, we are running about even with where we were at this time last year - at about 120 entries. We understand that everyone is feeling the pinch of increases in expenses, but so are we. In order for us to be able to continue to offer a race of this magnitude, we need your continued support so please put August 30-31,
2008 on your calendar TODAY. Please note that if you bring someone to race who has not raced here before, you can get a discount off your own entry fee. A number of racers have already indicated plans to take advantage of this.

Current entries represent the states of Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, New Jersey, Texas, Michigan, Kansas, Florida, Oklahoma, Alabama, California, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Colorado, Massachusetts and Tennessee, as well as Bermuda.

SHOWING THEIR SUPPORT: Continuing their support as Presenting Sponsors of this year´s Rock Island Grand Prix are AT&T and Mazda. For AT&T this will be their 14th year and Mazda last year announced plans for a long-term commitment to the event. We welcome the continued support of these and our many other great sponsors and hope that you will show them your gratitude when it comes to making future buying decisions. If you or your company would like to join those companies benefiting from the exposure and sponsor loyalty that motorsports marketing can provide, please get in touch and we´ll hammer out a package to meet your specific needs.

FOREIGN INTEREST: We are currently talking with several foreign drivers interested in competing in Rock Island this year. If you live race overseas, or have friends that do, this is a great year for them to come over and race at Rock Island with the US dollar continuing in a relatively week position against the Euro and many other foreign currencies. Arrive and drive opportunities are available.

FREE ENTRIES: Congratulations to Brian Jacobsen (TAG Senior) and Dave Hannah (TAG Masters) who won free entries to the Rock Island Grand Prix as a result of winning their classes at the recent TAG Shootout at 61 Kartway, Delmar, Iowa - just outside the Quad-Cities.
