Unprecedented Worldwide Coverage For 2008

The Rock Island Grand Prix, the world´s largest karting street race, has announced plans for unprecedented worldwide coverage of this year´s races, August 30-31.

eKartingNews.com will provide regular updates all weekend long, as well as interviews and analysis. Editor-in-Chief Rob Howden and News Desk Editor David Cole will both be in attendance to work the coverage. Mr. Cole will also be racing in the event and will follow up with one of his popular "On Track" reports.

In addition, Monks Media (monksmedia.com) and Race Fan Radio (racefanradio.com) will both be doing live trackside audio web casts of this year´s racing. The web casts will also be archived for race fans´ convenience after the race.

A 30 minute TV production that explains the sports of karting through the eyes of competitors at the Rock Island Grand Prix, will be aired eight times prior to the race weekend on the Mediacom cable network in Illinois and Iowa. The show was produced and directed by Michael J. Quane and Full Circle Media, Chicago. Clips will soon be available for viewing at www.gokartshow.com.

The usual wide circle of local and racing media are also expected to provide race coverage.

In addition, thanks to the support of Bill Wright, Formula Kart Productions and the Florida Winter Tour (www.floridawintertour.com) who has provided for the use of updated software, results of this year´s Rock Island Grand Prix will be posted to mylaps.com. Results will also be available in real time on large-screen display monitors in the windows of The Rock Island Argus building adjacent to the pre-grid and scale, with on-site support provided by Greg Pachman of AMB Timing.

Rob Howden will handle the announcing chores for all 14 races at this year´s Rock Island Grand Prix, assuring that race-weekend excitement will be shared by those at the track as well.

Presenting Sponsors of the Rock Island Grand Prix are AT&T and Mazda Motorsports. The $35,000 RIGP purse is sponsored by Jumer´s Casino Rock Island.
Other major sponsors include Kart Expo International presented by Sodi Kart to be held Feb. 21-22, 2009 in suburban Chicago, The Dispatch, Rock Island Argus, Leader newspapers and Mediacom.
